FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS

Cooking Class participants become

“Friends and Neighbors”

Last spring, women from The Jacksboro Parish (made up of the Memorial Christian and First Presbyterian Churches), organized a series of cooking classes and invited other women from the community to participate. The classes were led by Alinda Cox, County Extension Agent, and covered food safety, nutrition, shopping and meal preparation. The fourth and final class was a cooking extravaganza and ended with participants enjoying a meal together.

Everyone had such a good time that we decided we definitely wanted to do more together, so the Cooking Class has now become the Friends and Neighbors group with a lot of fun and educational activities planned. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to any or all of the activities. We have plans to work on our English/Spanish conversational skills each time we meet for classes and projects. Most importantly, we plan to get to know our friends and neighbors better and expand our circle. After all, you can never have too many friends!

Friends and Neighbors will meet again in September 2005.
