Rev. Tom Neal
Rev. Dr. Tom W. Neal, Jr.
Tom was born in Temple, Texas in 1946. His high school years were spent in Austin, Texas where he met his wife, Linda. They graduated from high school and were married in 1965. Tom entered Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois in 1967. His senior year he was the Religion Fellow and graduated with a BA in Humanities in 1971. He entered Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University where he received the CARMEC and Granville Walker Scholarships. He served student pastorates in Fort Worth and Knox City, Texas
.Tom graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree and was ordained in 1975 in Knox City, Texas. Tom completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at Brite Divinity School in 1986. He served pastorates in Texas and Tennessee until he was called to be the Central Area Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest in 1993. In January 1999, Tom became Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Georgia and served there through December 2002. During the time in Georgia he served as President of the Georgia Christian Council for two years and did a one year interim at St. Andrew Christian Church in Macon, Georgia.
He is currently pastor of the Jacksboro Parish which is a joint ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., so he holds standing as a minister in both denominations. He does workshops and training in both denominations related to conflict intervention and Clergy Sexual Misconduct.
